Is intermittent fasting the best way to lose weight?

The hype is real but this study had interesting insights: Effects of Time-Restricted Eating on Weight Loss and Other Metabolic Parameters in Women and Men With Overweight and Obesity: The TREAT Randomized Clinical Trial

What was the study about?
Across a 12-week period, 116 adults were studied

Key Findings:

1. The group on the time-restricted eating between 12pm and 8pm were overall less active than the 3-meal group.

2. No significant difference between groups with regard to weight (even though the TRF group lost weight.)

3. No significant difference in markers of metabolic health, such as blood pressure, lipids, glucose, and insulin.

What this means for you?

1. Weight loss is directly related to the numbers of calories consumed over when they are consumed.

2. Metabolic markers or health markers donโ€™t see a significant change with the time-restricted eating.

3. Since both groups didnโ€™t show a significant difference in weight, it is better to follow an eating pattern that fits your lifestyle and creates a deficit.

4. Weight loss can be achieved by simply being in a deficit. Here is a reel that will help you understand what a deficit is.
