Can Migraine be managed?

Can Migraine be managed... Is there something that could provide relief... or in fact a cure of some sort???

As someone who understands the relentless grip of migraines all too well, there's a glimmer of hope on the horizon…

Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin.

In our shared journey to find relief from the throbbing agony of migraines, Vitamin B2 emerges as a potential ally, offering a beacon of light amidst the darkness of pain.

This paper titled “Can riboflavin prevent or treat migraines?” explores the promise of Vitamin B2 in alleviating the burden of migraines, transforming moments of agony into opportunities for renewed vitality and well-being.

The results were compelling:

B2 demonstrated efficacy across multiple parameters.

  • It notably reduced the number of migraine days

  • Its duration

  • How frequently one got an attack

  • And severity in the majority of the studies

Quantitative analyses confirmed the positive impact of B2 supplementation.

It was also interesting to note that the comparisons with traditional migraine medications yielded mixed results.

While B2 was found to be equally effective as certain medications in reducing migraine frequency, it did not always match their ability to decrease migraine intensity.

What this means for you?

For individuals grappling with migraines, particularly those seeking non-pharmacological interventions,

  • Vitamin B2 supplementation presents a promising avenue

  • Adding foods rich in Riboflavin (Vit B2) also would be something that would be beneficial.

Its ability to alleviate migraine symptoms, as evidenced by this meta-analysis, underscores its potential as a valuable addition to migraine management strategies.

Please note: While B2 supplementation offers a compelling option, it's essential to consult your nutritionist or Doctor for personalised guidance and treatments. What to look for in store bought Mayo?

Mayonnaise, often a polarising topic in the nutrition world, has garnered a somewhat questionable reputation over the years.

It is often criticised for its calorie content, which primarily comes from fats. Store-bought varieties, laden with preservatives and refined oils, may contribute to digestive discomfort like bloating. We have been exploring all types of gut issues in our community this month. Better yet, experiment with crafting your own mayo at home—it's simpler than you think. Here is the link for our own homemade, healthy Mayo recipe... give it a try this week and tell us how you liked it.
