Hypercortisolism
There is a lot of fear mongering about cortisol online. Hypercortisolism is really rare. Having a stressful day or a few days of high stress doesn’t mean you have “high cortisol”.
You can also get hypercortisolism if you are taking certain medications for asthma, arthritis, or IBD.

Get a stress test!

Please avoid taking the cortisol test after a late night or a night out drinking.
Do not drink caffeine or exercise just before the test as this will give you a false reading.
